I think a lot of people miss the fact that this specific drill is indeed meant for those longer missions, so I'm glad someone pointed this out. Or how about Electronics themselves? People have a similar grip about the Lantern in the T2 tree needing biofuel, which requires the composter in the T3 tree and the same thing can be applied here - people wouldn't have an issue with the Lantern needing Biofuel if it was moved to the T3 tree. This probably then wouldn't have been an issue for you if the Biofuel Deep-Mining Drill was moved to the T4 branch. It sounds like you're hung up on the fact that it's in the T3 tree and believe anything requiring electronics should be in the T4 branch (since that's where most of them are anyway). There is no other drills out there currently. So saying it shouldn't require electronics isn't necessarily correct when given the fact that the Extractor and the Biofuel Deep-Mining Drill are made to do a similar job - get stuff from deposits. Note: The T4 equivalent Extractor drill, to mine exotics, also requires electronics and is also powered by Biofuel. This is one of the answers RocketWerkz provides to address this issue.

The main issue is that a lot of people have stated that teching for T4 can be hard because they don't nearly have enough resources to do it. Before T4, any mission that's just T3 or below has no issues with ore and the drill isn't needed. The reason I'm saying this, is by the time you get to a point where you actually need to use this specific drill, is actually when you start getting into T4 (this begins at level 30). It's not really worth it to craft it for those 6 hour or 6 day missions. This works as a long-term solution for maximizing world resources by providing access to huge quantities of resources (Iron, Silica, Gold, etc) albeit at a slow pace. Deep Mining Drills are a long-term operation, designed to be set up, left to operate while you complete other mission objectives and then returned to collect resources from.Īdded Deep Ore Mining system. The game is a fun, enjoyable grind up until you have a fabricator, hunting rifle and some deep vein Extractors, everything after that in tier 4 needs rebalancing, the deep mining patch should of been a good way to address this, but again it's like the Devs don't actually play the game or have rose colored glasses on. Let's not talk about the electronic mining drill and the resource cost Vs time invested in to that monstrosity. The fact the drills need electronics means I already have a machining bench to make a base made and a biofuel furnace, I may as well just make a fabricator, the deep vein Extractors (only 5 electronics for these lol?) In the 5 hours I'm waiting just to get my resources back I could of completed a mission twice or emptied nearly all the caves in a zone. unless you go afk, coming back to run around and empty drills, refuel cans. How does this make any sense? Again I was excited for another patch and again I was disappointed by the execution. So we need to wait at least 5 hours to get our resources back. Resource cost/time just to return the resources you have already spent! Let's say we make 3 biofuel drills (the same electronic cost to make a fabricator btw) So, if you have 1 biofuel drill you will need 250 minutes to just replace the resources you have already used, add in the time it would take to locate and move the drill around.
